Many of care pathways below were kindly provided at part of the research for a report concerning Care Pathways. Introducing Anticipated Recovery Pathways (warning 8 mbytes big): A teaching Hospital Experience. Article by Terina Riches, Louise Stead & Charlotte Espie at St. Mary's Hospital London (Int jour Health Care Quality Assurance 7 (5) 1994 21-24)19.

Another article I would recommend: Coronary Artery Bypass (Mount Clemens Geneal Hospital) Taken from Hofman P A 1993 Critical Path Method: An important tool for coordinating clinical care. Jour of Quality Improvement 19 (7) 235 - 246

I would also recommend Pathways of Care (Blackwell science) 1997 edited by Sue Johnson who worked at Ashford Hospital where several of the above examples come from.

The NHS connecting for health program included a e-care pathway project and you can find two excellent talks from this program given in 2007 at;

One of those involved in the project, Claire Whittle, is undertaking a PHd looking at care pathways and her web page has some interesting references to care pathways at http://www.healthscinet.bham.ac.uk/Staff/StaffProfile.asp?staffID=16889

Haringey NHS trust provide a list of local carepathways at: http://www.haringey.nhs.uk/services/specialist/care_pathways_and_guidelines/index.shtm

Outside the UK:
A excellent presentation (2007) which includes detailed outcomes measures demonstrating the effectiveness of care pathways can be found at: http://www.bmia.be/Events/2007/Conference-2007-5/WSermeus.pdf
